WillowFaire | An Italian Getaway

Willow Grove Educational Foundation is proud to once again present an Escape to Italy package as part of our upcoming auction at our fundraising event WillowFaire. This musical festival fundraiser will happen on May 2, 2020, at The Ranch House at Del Sur.

The Escape to Italy opportunity is brought to you in partnership with Willow Grove’s own Kirschbaum family. The Kirschbaum’s have special ties to Dolceacqua where they now own a home. Amy, along with her Italian cousins, spent summers in this sunny region of Italy filled with beaches, gardens, orchards, vineyards, and historical sites.

When Amy and John married, they, along with 35 loved-ones, traveled to this commune of 2000 for the event. The mayor of Dolceacqua personally presented the Kirschbaum’s with a gift as a thank you for sharing the occasion with the village.

This pleasant town is the source of much happiness for the Kirschbaum’s, and the site of many memorable occasions for their family. They have generously offered to share the charms of living in Dolceacqua for a week as part of this priceless auction offering.

Escape to Italy

Buon Viaggio! A few miles inland from the northern Mediterranean coast of Italy and close to the Provence region of France, one finds the charming village of Dolceacqua.

Immortalized by Monet and known for its olives and Rossese di Dolceacqua wine, Dolceacqua offers the chance to immerse yourself in the culture of the Ligurian region of Italy.

Dolceacqua has a rich history that hasn't been spoiled in the modern age of travel.

Visitors can get fresh bread and pastries every morning in the historic piazza or enjoy brunch on the expansive terrace of the exquisite heritage home where you will stay.  This home with bespoke renovations has sweeping views of the 12th century Doria Castle located in the historic quarter where you are free to wander site-to-site via stone pathways.  Spend time in this lovely walkable village visiting the many restaurants, the weekly farmer's market, or the 15th century church.

This home has included thoughtful details and space for making memories. This Italian getaway will include a bottle of freshly pressed olive oil from Amy's familial vineyard. Amy’s uncle will provide a bottle of wine from his own vineyard, and guests who choose to book in October will be invited to participate in the family grape harvest.
