| Virtual | School is in session!

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite educational resources that we’ve been using during this transition period to keep our kiddos engaged and having fun! From reading to science to fitness, you and your “students” can explore various subjects and learn together! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Quick Science with Mr. Wollitz

For the first time ever, PTA has introduced Science Month featuring a true science whiz, our beloved Mr. Wollitz!

Willow Grove’s very own P.E. teacher, Coach Nate, has been hard at work creating a collection of exercises you can do from the safety of your own home!

Space Education

Kennedy Space Center has launched Facebook Live lessons geared towards both younger and older children (and even YOU!). Learn how to build a rocket from things you have lying at home (ahem….toilet paper rolls anyone?), find out what it’s like living in space, learn what that spacesuit is made out of, etc. Check it out here.

Go deeper into space with resources like downloadable activity sheets and the Space Chase! app, available in the Apple Store and Google Play. Visit Kennedy Space Center for more information.

For budding young astronomers, or just curious minds, look no further than StarChild, Nasa’s collaboration with Goddard Flight School. Offered in several different languages and full of topics concerning the solar system, the milky way, and the entire universe, this site has something from ages 4 thru 13. Have older students? Head on over to Imagine the Universe! for their more advanced curriculum.

Disney

Kiddos can learn how to build their own theme park, attractions, characters and more with Disney’s “Imagineering in a Box.” Applying skills like graphic design, engineering and story development, you and your kids can immerse yourself in the Disney magic, bringing concepts to reality, from the comfort of your home.

Visit the Disney Family website for more ideas on crafts, Disney-inspired recipes (including treats for your pup), and more! Take our shortcut directly to printable coloring pages for your littles.

Zoo Safari

Cincinnati Zoo has started Home Safaris seven days a week via live stream on their Facebook page.  How much do baby hippos weigh when they’re born? How much do lions eat in one day? Every day at 12 PM PST, bring the zoo to life straight from your couch with fun and educational content directly from the keepers!

Stay in touch with your local San Diego Zoo with live feeds of your favorite animals, arts and crafts, games and more.

Learn about animals from different parts of the US! One special student recently shared with us this amazing resource regarding animals in the Florida Everglades (did you know Florida has its own cougar species?!), and we are LOVING it! Thanks Stephanie!

For other ways to practice mindfulness, visit GoNoodle, a resource chocked full of games, videos, lessons and more on how you can find good energy at home.
